Tube fin heat exchangers, also called finned coil heat exchangers, consist of tubes that pass through a dense fin stack that is mechanically supported by a mounting frame. Fluid passes through the tube coils, conducts heat to the fins and dissipates heat to air forced through the heat exchanger.
In liquid cooling systems, tube fin heat exchangers function as liquid to air heat exchangers, rejecting heat from the coolant loop into the surrounding airstream. This makes them a common choice for applications where facility water is not available and heat must be dissipated to air. Eaton tube fin heat exchangers are designed to integrate directly with liquid cooling loops, cold plates, and chillers as part of a complete thermal management system.
